PICNIC LUNCH

After meeting at JR Saga Arashiyama Station at 11:00, we'll make our way to Kameyama Park for our picnic lunch. We'll walk to the look-out point (bring your camera!) and then have our picnic under the trees. Please bring your own lunch and something to drink. (If the forecast is rain, we'll arrange to eat at a local restaurant. You'll be notified the day before the event.)

FUKUDA MUSEUM VISIT

After lunch, we will visit the Fukuda Museum, an award-winning museum with commanding views of the Hozu River and Arashiyama Bridge. The current exhibition is the works of Higashiyama Kaii, an artist famous for his Nihonga style paintings. The museum's coffee shop is also well worth a visit, even if it's just for the spectacular view!

NOTE:

  • Please remember to bring your own lunch and drink. (We will not be sharing our lunches and no other food or drinks will be provided.)
  • There is a convenience store on the way to Kameyama Park.
  • There's usually a coffee truck at the entrance to Kameyama Park.
  • Chatting is officially allowed at the museum on Tuesdays. Visit here for more information.
  • If you have time, consider visiting the Saga Arashiyama Museum of Arts and Culture, which is just down the street from the Fukuda Museum. The current exhibition includes works connected with the poems in Hyakunin Isshu (100 Poets One Poem).
