Insights from a British Buddhist Priest

Despite your time in Japan, how much to you really know about the role of Buddhist temples and priests in Japanese life? Victoria Yoshimura, our June guest speaker, is just the person to shed some light on this topic. Victoria is a senior ordained priest and works along side her husband at a 450-year-old Pure Land Buddhist temple deep in the mountains of central Kyushu. (They are the 17th generation of the Yoshimura family to be guardians of this temple.) Victoria will be explaining the role of her temple as well as sharing the reality of temple life and priesthood with humor and insight.
