Japan is no stranger to natural disasters and has seen numerous earthquakes over the past two decades. And while we all know we should be prepared, sometimes we’re just not sure what to do or we put it off because it’s hard to think about.
The Program
Knowledge is power, and at this meeting, Dr. Mariko Ogawa will give you the information you need to be prepared and create an emergency plan, just in case. In addition, Dr. Ogawa will touch on why earthquakes occur and why some are more damaging than others. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn proactive strategies to care for yourself and your family in case of a natural disaster.
The Speaker
Dr. Mariko Ogawa is a native of Miyazaki prefecture and received her Ph.D. here in Kansai from Kobe University in civil engineering. She is a researcher focusing on meteorology radar and the estimates of heavy rainfall. Dr. Ogawa currently works at Kobe University in the Office of Promoting Regional Partnership where she creates textbooks and curriculum regarding disaster-related issues.
